Frequently asked questions
How does Microneedling work?
Micro Needling creates tiny punctures in the skin that are too small to damage the tissue, but enough to stimulate a healing response in your skin. As part of this healing response, your skin cells and collagen fibers regenerate themselves. Collagen is responsible for strength and elasticity in your skin. As we age, our bodies produce less collagen, which causes our skin to crease and sag. Rebuilding collagen can also help repair textural concerns on the surface, such as enlarged pores and mild scarring. MicroNeedling also helps the growth factor serum to penetrate the skin. Growth factors are natural proteins that stimulate tissue growth and repair. They aid the healing response produced by Micro Needling.
What does a Microneedling treatment involve?
First, your skin will be cleansed and gently exfoliated. Then, a trained professional will apply a hydrating serum and carefully glide the MicroNeedling pen over the surface of your skin. You may opt for using growth factor serum or PRF ( which is your own body cells used to promote skin rejuvenation) is applied after the needling is performed so it can sink in through the micro penetration points.
How long does a Microneedling treatment take?
About 20-30 minutes for the full face.
What are the results from Microneedling?
Results appear gradually as your skin needs time to heal and collagen can take time to rebuild, however, you may notice a slightly plumped and glowing appearance the day after your treatment as the healing process has begun. Overall, MicroNeedling with Growth Factors as PRF can help reduce fine lines, refine large pores, reduce mild surface scarring and improve the overall texture and tone of your skin.
How many Microneedling sessions do I need?
Some results can be seen after one treatment, but depending on the nature of your skin, you may require regular treatments to maintain results.
Will the hair be permanently removed?
Most people experience hair removal that lasts several months, for some it might last for years. But laser hair removal doesn't guarantee permanent hair removal. When hair regrows, it's usually finer and lighter in color. You might need maintenance laser treatments for long-term hair reduction.
How many visits does hair removal require?
It depends on your individual needs, for best results most people need 4-8 treatments.
What happens during laser hair removal?
Before the treatment, the area to be treated will be cleansed. Some patients receive a numbing gel. Numbing the area to be treated helps when a small area will be treated and the skin is very sensitive. Everyone in the room must wear protective eyewear during the procedure. To perform the procedure, the skin is held taut and the skin is treated with the laser. Many patients say that the laser pulses feel like warm pinpricks or a rubber band being snapped against the skin. A laser removes hair by vaporizing it. This causes small plumes of smoke that have a sulfur-like smell.
How should I prepare for laser hair removal?
We want you to shave the day before the treatment to avoid any skin irritation on the day of treatment. Come in for your treatment with clean skin (no lotions or makeup).
What are the risks of removing hair by laser?
Our lasers are incredibly safe, and you’re treated by trained laser technicians. We provide eye protection and take all necessary precautions so your treatments are effective, yet safe. Laser hair removal is a simple procedure and there’s almost no recovery time so you can return to work, apply makeup or be active immediately after your treatment. We only ask that you wear sunscreen to protect the treated area.
What must I do after getting laser hair removal?
To avoid possible side effects, all patients need to protect their skin from the sun. Do not use a tanning bed, sun lamp, or any other indoor tanning equipment. A few individuals may see some redness and swelling after treatment. This often looks like a mild sunburn. Applying a cool compress can help reduce your discomfort.
When will I see the results after having laser hair removal?
You will likely see the results immediately after treatment. The results vary from patient to patient. The color and thickness of your hair, area treated, type of laser used, and color of your skin all affect the results. You can expect a 10% to 25% reduction in hair after the first treatment.
Is there downtime?
No, laser hair removal generally does not require any real downtime. Immediately after having laser hair removal, your treated skin will be red and swollen. Despite this, most people return to their everyday activities.
How long will the results of laser hair removal last?
Most patients remain hair free for months or even years. When some of the hair regrows, it will likely be less noticeable. To keep the area free of hair, a patient may need maintenance laser treatments.
When is it safe to have another laser treatment for hair removal?
This varies from patient to patient. Removing hair often requires a series of laser treatments. Most patients can have laser hair removal once every 3 to 4 weeks.
What is Laser resurfacing?
Laser resurfacing peels are minimally invasive aesthetic procedures that use laser energy to remove the surface layer of skin on your face to regenerate healthy, new skin cells. We use the Fotona SP Dynamis fractional laser rejuvenation system to eliminate dead surface skin and improve the overall look and feel of your skin.
How many treatments do I need?
While you will notice a difference in the texture and tone of your skin after one treatment, most people schedule several appointments to achieve their aesthetic goals. The number of sessions you need is based on your skin issues and recovery time. Once you achieve your desired results with laser skin resurfacing for wrinkles, you can continue to maintain your look with further touch-up sessions as needed.
Are there different types of laser peels?
Laser peels with Fotona platforms differ and can vary in aggressiveness depending on the patient’s needs and tolerance for downtime, from resurfacing to treat fine lines and wrinkles, to a low-downtime light laser peel to refresh healthier skin in a younger adult.
What is LipLase?
LipLase enhances the natural shape and size of your lips. LipLase from Fotona is a fast and comfortable, non-invasive laser treatment revolutionizing lip rejuvenation. Fotona offers an innovative and versatile system featuring six specialized delivery modes – its two wavelengths (2940 nm Er:YAG and 1064 nm Nd:YAG) which can deliver fuller, tighter lips without injectables. Lips are treated from both the inside and outside using LipLase.
How many sessions do I need and how soon can I see results?
As LipLase treatment promotes natural collagen and elastin production, it is therefore dependent on your body’s ability to produce collagen. Results may differ across individuals. However, patients usually can see a difference after the first session; for optimal results, at least 3 sessions spaced 2 weeks apart and another 3 sessions spaced one month apart are recommended. Results may last up to 12 months depending on the age, collagen regeneration.
Are there any side effects?
Fotona LipLase is a safe procedure with minimal to no side effects. The treatment is virtually painless with no anesthesia or numbing agents required. At most, you may feel some warmth all over your lips due to the laser energy, but it is expected to be gone after the treatment.
Will Liplase affect my lip sensation?
Generally, LipLase does not have any side effects that could trigger loss of sensation in your lips.
Is there any downtime?
There is no downtime and patients are able to resume their daily activities immediately after. After the procedure, the lips will appear swollen but this should subside within a few fours. There will be some superficial peeling on the 2nd day. As part of the aftercare, patients are advised to use SPF 50 lip balm and avoid wearing lipstick for the next 24 hours.
What is SmoothEye?
SmoothEye is a safe, non-invasive laser treatment designed specifically for the delicate periocular area. SmoothEye is used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, restore lost volume, improve elasticity and reduce bags underneath and around the eye area.
How does SmoothEye laser work?
The laser gently ablates dead cells on the surface of the skin allowing newer cells to come through. The laser also induces controlled warming in the skin, which causes collagen fibers to contract for a lifted appearance, and it stimulates the fibroblast cells to rebuild damaged collagen to improve the skin’s appearance and elasticity.
What does SmoothEye laser feel like?
This treatment has a warm, sometimes tingling feeling that only lasts while the laser delivers pulses of energy. Minor discomfort can be managed with numbing cream and surface cooling, though the treatment is often well tolerated.
When will I see results from laser SmoothEye?
You will see some initial improvement as the collagen fibers contract right away, but the full result will become apparent approximately four weeks after your course of treatment. This is because collagen, once it is stimulated, takes time to regenerate and rebuild.
How many SmoothEye treatments will I need?
You may need up to 3 treatments to see optimal results, but this can vary person to person.
Is there any downtime following SmoothEye?
There is no downtime required, and you can resume your normal activities after treatment. You will need to protect the area from the sun for a few days following treatment and there may be some minor redness, swelling or peeling following treatment.
Are there any side effects from laser SmoothEye?
Your skin may appear to be red after treatment, and some clients experience minor swelling, which can be covered with mineral makeup. Skin may become dry a few days after treatment, and your practitioner may recommend an ointment or moisturizer to use.
What is the difference between Skin Tightening and Tight Sculpting?
Skin tightening is used for firming up the skin and toning it while body sculpting is used to break down fat cells so the skin appears toned and tight.
What is Laser Skin Tightening?
As we age, the skin loses elasticity, resulting in wrinkles and loose skin such as areas, such as the face, neck, and stomach. Patients looking for a nonsurgical way to improve the firmness of their skin. Designed to improve the laxity of the skin, laser skin tightening is a minimally invasive option to help patients achieve a more youthful appearance.
How is Laser Tightening performed?
At your initial consultation, we go over your aesthetic goals and develop an individualized treatment plan that will address your specific needs and concerns. Laser energy will be passed over the targeted areas, disrupting collagen fibers within the skin and stimulating the production of new collagen. Treatment may last around 30 – 90 minutes,
and once treatment is complete, most patients can return to their normal schedules. There may be some swelling, redness, or numbness in the treated area, but these side effects should disappear on their own. Final results are generally visible around 2 – 6 months after treatment.
Who is suitable for Tightsculpting treatment?
It is suitable for almost all people who need it except for people with Metabolic disorders, immune system diseases and connective tissue disorders who should not undergo treatment.
How does TightSculpting treatment take and how long does it last?
The treatment takes 20-60 minutes per session, requires 8 treatments at two week intervals and must be completed within 4 months, however this varies per person. Maintenance may be required if there is weight gain.
Is there any pre or post care needed?
Direct sun exposure on the area should be avoided on the treatment area 5 days prior to and post treatment. What is Fotona 4D?
Fotona 4D is a multimodality, 4-step laser treatment that helps to tighten, brighten, lift and smooth aging, uneven or blemished skin.
- Step 1, also known as Smooth Lifting targets nasolabial folds (smile lines) by directing the laser inside the mouth and to the external skin around the mouth, lips and cheeks to regenerate collagen at every layer.
- Step 2, also known as Frac 3 delivers microsecond energy pulses into the skin to reduce imperfections. The energy helps to refine pores for improved skin texture and reduce dilated capillaries to reduce redness.
- Step 3, also known as Fotona Piano or SkinTight, applies a controlled bulk heating to the deeper layers of the skin to contract the collagen fibers and stimulate collagen regeneration to tighten, lift and strengthen the skin for a more youthful appearance.
- Step 4, also known as the Erbium Peel, provides gentle exfoliation and creates a micro healing response in the superficial layer of your skin. It reveals a healthy new layer of skin cells and a touchable softness.
How does Fotona4D work?
Fotona4D can reduce fine lines, tighten, lift and strengthen sagging skin, reduce redness and large pores, and improve skin texture and tone for a smoother, younger, more even and radiant complexion.
How long does a Fotona4D treatment take?
The full treatment is about 1 hr.
When will I start to see results?
Results vary according to the skin type and texture, most patients will see some results right away as the collagen contracts and tightens the skin. Further skin tightening and brightening results will appear gradually over 2-3 months as collagen takes time to regenerate and rebuild itself, and your skin cells take time to turn over. Full results can be expected around 2-3 months after treatment.
Which areas can be treated?
Fotona4D was designed to treat the face and neck.
Are there any side effects or downtime from Fotona 4D?
There is no downtime associated with this treatment and you can return to your regular activities right away. In some very rare cases, there may be some mild blistering inside the cheek, but this is not very common, and it heals normally within a few days. You may have some mild redness immediately after treatment, but this can be covered with mineral makeup.
Does Fotona 4D treatment hurt?
There may be some mild discomfort during the first step of this treatment, but it is generally well tolerated. The other steps are relatively comfortable. Most clients report a warming or tingling sensation on the skin.
How is Fotona 4D compared to other skin treating treatments?
The two main differences are in the modalities and the type of energy used. Fotona4D involves four different modalities; two to tighten skin and two to improve surface texture and skin tone, so it’s like four different treatments in one. Additionally, our other skin tightening treatments use ultrasound or radiofrequency energy while Fotona4D uses laser energy. Ultrasound skin tightening can provide more powerful skin tightening results, but the benefit with Fotona 4D is that results can be seen sooner, and you benefit from improved surface texture and tone.
Is there any prepping or after care?
There is no prepping or aftercare required. We may recommend that you take extra caution with the sun for a few days following treatment by applying sunscreen. Stay Hydrated.
